Abstract

This study addresses the importance of the inclusion of students with Down syndrome in the university educational system and the support of their parents in this process. It is highlighted that the active participation of parents is essential for the cognitive and emotional development of these students. Furthermore, the need for effective collaboration between families and educational institutions is highlighted to guarantee quality inclusive education. To guarantee the inclusion of students with Down syndrome in university education, strategies are proposed such as individualized support programs, physical and technological access, training and awareness, curricular adaptation, social inclusion, mentoring, continuous evaluation, development of independent life skills, family participation, employment programs and promotion of research and innovation. Ultimately, it is emphasized that the successful implementation of inclusive policies requires the collaboration of all stakeholders and the construction of a university environment that fosters equal opportunities for all students, including those with Down syndrome.
